Advanced Leadlighting Touchwood Leadlights

This course is designed for people who have had Leadlighting experience and want to further develop their leadlighting skills. Instruction and assistance with larger leadlight and structural projects is provided within this course. The importance of cartoon design concepts for multi paneled projects is discussed and demonstrated also covering further elements of design and rules of structural panels. Guidance with construction difficulties that arise, re-enforcing panels, repairs, display and installation of finished work also taught. Advanced glass cutting and soldering methods discussed and demonstrated. Materials and tools required are an extra cost to the student.

Glass Blowing City East Community College

Learn how to blow glass the Venetian way: with long pipes, lung power and molten glass. Starting with a small paperweight or perfume bottle, work your way up to making a larger blown glass object of your own design. This course is limited to 4 students, each having approximately 4 hours of individual blowing time. Grinding and finishing glass, as well as watching the progress of other students, also forms part of the course. Course fee includes use of all equipment and clear glass. The physi­cal demands of this course require, at minimum, an average level of fitness and an ability to bear heat.

This course is designed to give students who have been exposed to glass cutting, copper foiling and or leadlighting, instruction on how to design and build a Tiffany lampshade. The technique will be shown for both styles of lampshade construction a panel\" lampshade and the more traditional, plain form Tiffany Lampshade. Choice of glass and creative ideas will also be discussed and demonstrated. The course content covers the function of the lampshade and design. The use of glass, texture and colour and their effects. The various hardware required to hang or display your lampshade. All tools, glass and materials required for this course are an extra cost to the student. These can be purchased from the studio is desired.
