Like to know more about our closest celestial neighbours? This 6 week course looks at our Solar System from its beginnings through to its eventual fate. We take a close look at each of the eight planets moons comets and asteroids. How do dwarf planets differ from planets? Are shooting stars really stars falling from the heavens? Is the morning star and evening star really a star as the name suggests? Could there be life elsewhere in our Solar System? This course requires no previous astronomy knowledge.

Thinking of buying a telescope or have you purchased one and are having problems using it? This one-day course looks at telescopes and binoculars. From the different types available to the vast array of telescope accessories that can improve and enhance your viewing enjoyment. Also learn to navigate your way around the night sky and the difference between stars and planets. There are many objects other than stars that can be seen with your eyes binoculars or a telescope. We look at star maps and how to use them to find interesting objects. If you have binoculars or a telescope bring it to the course as after the sun goes down there will be a chance to do some viewing putting what you have learned into practice.
