Enjoy growing your own miniature trees. You will learn about trees styling pots shaping by pruning wiring and basic horticulture. Each student will be helped to design and pot a small bonsai. The course varies slightly depending on the season. Includes field trips.

Students will learn the basic foundational rules of growing training and presenting the specimen of their choice to maximise and enhance their bonsai tree. Areas covered include: Artistic perspective tools and equipment root pruning repotting wiring techniques trimming/pruning after-care basic pests and diseases. This is a hands-on course. Selection of material will be discussed in week 1 so bringing plant material first week is optional.

Design your dream garden yourself! Learn about landscape design principles garden styles how to read and prepare a landscape plan basic landscape construction plant selection deal with landscape contractors and practical solutions to many landscape design problems. Course runs over 4 weeks to allow students to work on their design between sessions. Students will produce a basic landscape for their own site. Learn the basics of landscape gardening including designing your own backyard. Course includes a visit to a student’s backyard, also looking at soils, mulches, pruning, lawns and irrigation. Learn how to conserve water and identify common plants and their culture.
