Competent Crew Weekender Flying Fish Australia

One of three weekends in Sydney. This course runs over three weekends. It follows the same syllabus as our five day course, leading to the RYA/YA Competent Crew certificate. The weekend starts and finishes at Middle Harbour Yacht Club. You will practice your skills in Sydney Harbour and offshore (weather permitting). On Saturday there is a short night sail where you will experience the many lights used for nighttime navigation. We usually spend the rest of the night on anchor in one of Sydney\\\'s many little coves or alongside the marina in the yacht club. The course is for beginners and those who would like to become active crew members, rather than just passengers. We teach you personal safety, seamanship and helmsmanship.

Spend a day on Sydney Harbour as you learn the fundamental principles of Sailing. Suitable for beginners, as well as those with some previous experience, this course offers practical instruction in; manoeuvring under sail, safety at sea, sailing termi­nology, sailing rules, basic navigation, knots and more.

One of our experienced instructors will guide you and fellow crew members through our two day introductory course and teach you the basics of sailing and seamanship. By the end of the course, you will have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, ropework and be aware of safety on board. You train on board one of the Flying Fish Beneteau 40.7s or an equivalent comfortable boat. Training on one of these race tuned yachts means that your skills will be easily transferred to any boat you later crew on.

This short sailing lesson introduces newcomers to the exciting sport of sailing in a safe and controlled way. You will sail in comfort and style on beautiful Sydney Harbour on board one of our superb Beneteau 40.7 yachts race tuned yachts. If you have never sailed before this will be a great experience. If you are already experienced and want to come along for some fresh air and sunshine or to introduce a friend to sailing you are welcome too.
