Come and explore some of the many walking tracks in our beautiful Blue Mountains. Observe flora and fauna and enjoy the social aspects of bushwalking. Easy pace, but you need to be reasonably fit. Meet at the College for the first session with morning tea - ready for walking. Please contact tutor to discuss any medical condition prior to enrolling.

Get some exercise relax and chat over morning tea (provided) and then participate in another stimulating College course. Activities change each term in response to availability participant's needs and requests. An hour of GENTLE EXERCISE conducted by the popular Val Kemp is always included. Walk 1: Halloween Tour - All Saints Cemetery The Parramatta College

Explore this burial place used mainly for those on the fringes of society orphans lunatics convicts and servants. Contrast these with the business men buried in prominent positions along the main path and see the grave of one of only six men who survived the Sandakan death march. Meet at the corner of Brickfield and Fennel Sts Parramatta. Please note: As this is a 1 day workshop you can not enrol on the day of the course.

 

Walk 2: The Macquaries and Parramatta The Parramatta College

Follow in Elizabeth and Lachlan's footsteps as we investigate their lives in Parramatta. Using pictures buildings archeological remains & the words of the couple themselves we will view the lasting legacy of this 19th century power couple to Parramatta in this their 200yr Anniversary. Meet at the Tudor Gatehouse George St entrance Parramatta Park. Please note: As this is a 1 day workshop you can not enrol on the day of the course.

 

Walk 3: Female Factory (Convict Women’s Gaol) The Parramatta College

Hear the stories of the crimes and daily lives of convict women as we stroll around the remnant buildings of the Female Factory. These feisty women were much maligned and known as “the very dregs of society”. Meet at the entrance to Cumberland Hospital Fleet St Parramatta. Please note: As this is a 1 day workshop you can not enrol on the day of the course.

 

Walk 4: Campbelltown Heritage The Parramatta College

Explore an impressive number of colonial buildings in the main streets of Campbelltown. The tour will feature an early timber grog shop and the Temperance Hall Cobb & Co premises stately homes and a former bush school plus much more. Meet at Quondong Visitor Information Centre Old Menangle Road Campbelltown. Please note: As this is a 1 day workshop you can not enrol on the day of the course.
