Drill 1
Starting in a neutral every day stance the attacker pushes you aggressively hard in the chest & or slaps you hard around your face.
You get verbally abused & you adopt a passive stance/ Fence up, you try to diffuse the attacker & control the space, distance of the attacker etc.
Change roles & training partners.
Important thing is making your stance congruent to oneself, so it doesn't look dodgy! your partner will tell you if your passive stance/ Fence is congruent or looks dodgy!
Drill 2.
Again starting in a neutral every day stance the attacker pushes you aggressively hard in the chest & or slaps you hard around your face.
The bad guy now has a helmet on his head & gets verbally aggressive to the good guy, & you adopt a passive stance/ Fence up,
you try to diffuse him again but realise the attacker isnt listening to you & he's getting more & more aggro you need to pre-empt him fast!
Once the good guy has pre-empted the attacker you then do a quick debrief & confirm whether you executed a telegraphic strike or non-telegraphic strike.
The important thing is being a good bad guy & the old saying "attack beats reaction" or hand is quicker than the eye.
Default Cover defending the ambush/blind side attack.
Drill 1
Good guy has his back against the wall (so he cant run away) has to cover up & get used to being hit hard with focus pads from all angles etc.
Important thing about this drill is for the good guy to keep looking at the attacker & not cower away, being able to feel confidence of being hit & used to the default cover structure.
We change roles & partners @ 1min hard rounds each.
Drill 2
Good guy has his back against the wall (so he cant run away) has to cover up & get used to being hit hard with focus pads from all angles etc.
Same as drill 1 expect this time once your been hit you go forward to clinch & maintain a dominating position.
Great for forward mind set & forward pressure. knowing that you can cover up from a barrage of punches.
We change roles & partners @ 1min hard rounds each.
Match Fight.
Two guys stand face to face, toe to toe with helmets on, MMA gloves, shin guards etc.
This is a minimum rules fight, with a referee there so things don't get out of hand & for safety.
On the GO! command you fight....
Whats different about this is the fact that your so close nose to nose, similar to that on the street, if you have messed up & a blokes in your face type thing.
