Welcome to the Attic Studio
The Attic Studio in Glebe offers drama tuition in small groups with Joanna Hempel, as well as coaching to individuals in acting, voice and English language.
The Attic Studio has students from all parts of Sydney, and these range in age from 7 in drama, to mid-30's in acting, and up to 70 in English language fluency. The young come to gain confidence in creativity and self-expression, older students to improve their performance, presentation or communication skills.
Opened by Joanna Hempel in 2001, the Attic Studio is part of a townhouse situated in the Glebe Gardens in Wigram Lane, Glebe in Sydney's Inner West.

Joanna Hempel graduated in Psychology and English at the University of Sydney before training in Theatre, gaining an M.Litt at the University of New England, Armidale. With a Polish background, Joanna combined writing and directing and was director of the Armidale School of Youth Drama. Many of her plays for teenagers have been published and are studied and performed in Australian schools. She has shared her techniques with drama teachers in colleges, schools and at conferences inter-state & overseas.
