HLT43015 Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Occupational Therapy)

Build a rewarding career assisting occupational therapists to improve the wellbeing of patients.

Occupational therapy assistants play a key role in one of the most rewarding professional pursuits: helping patients live fulfilling and enjoyable lives. In this role, you will aid occupational therapists as they devise programs to help their patients participate fully in life – from working and volunteering to self-care and pursuing their personal interests.

With over 16,000 employees and very strong future growth projected by the Job Outlook website, the field of occupational therapy can provide excellent career stability and opportunity for graduates with the right skills and qualifications.

The HLT43015 Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Occupational Therapy) ensures you have the real-world skills and theoretical understanding to thrive in this career. As part of this occupational therapy assistant course, you will complete 120 hours of practical work placement alongside online theory (study anytime from anywhere). This combination of hands-on experience and knowledge-based learning will equip you to step confidently into your first job as an occupational therapy assistant.

In this rewarding role, you will get to help people of all ages with injury, illness, or disability live life to the fullest and get back to doing the things they love. This line of work provides new challenges every day – you might be assisting an elderly patient with their fine motor skills one day (e.g. handwriting or using scissors), then helping a child with their organisational skills the next (e.g. packing their backpack).

The HLT43015 Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Occupational Therapy) is a nationally recognised 12-month qualification that will prepare you for a successful career in allied health, ensuring you have the necessary practical skills and theoretical knowledge to work with an occupational therapist. If you’re unsure if an occupational therapy qualification is right for you, we also offer this allied health qualification with specialisations in nutrition/dietetics.
