Students enrolling in ELICOS courses at EQUALS must be at least 18 years old. Entry into the EAP course requires an overall IELTS score of 4.5, with no band lower than 4.0.
Students can qualify for placement in two ways. Before arrival, they may enrol by providing evidence of a current IELTS score meeting the required minimum. Alternatively, upon arrival, students may gain entry by either achieving the required result in the EQUALS Placement Test or presenting valid documentation of a current IELTS score that meets the entry requirement.
Successful completion of the EAP course helps students meet the English language entry requirements for various study and career pathways. At EQUALS, students may progress into courses such as Certificate III in Health Services Assistance, Certificate III in Pathology Collection, Certificate III in Individual Support, Diploma of Nursing, Diploma of Mental Health, Diploma of Community Services, Diploma of Leadership & Management, and the Bachelor of Human Services.
The course also supports future career opportunities in sectors including healthcare and aged care, nursing support, disability and community services, education support, and leadership roles within service organisations. In addition, EAP prepares students for academic success and professional communication in real-world environments, including workplace placements and employment settings.
