The Diploma of Community Services prepares you to deliver, manage and coordinate person-centred services for individuals, groups and communities. You learn to assess complex and co-existing needs, design and review service programs, respond to crisis situations, and manage legal and ethical compliance — working autonomously within your scope of practice and, in time, supervising other workers and volunteers.
NTA’s elective set is built around case management, so you also develop goal-directed planning, case coordination and case supervision skills.
You complete 20 units of competency — 12 core and 8 electives — studying theory and simulation online to a scheduled timetable. The course includes 100 hours of work placement with a community services organisation, coordinated by NTA through its network of host organisations.
