This course meets the training requirements for the issue of recreational and occupational firearms licences. (For Security Guard Training See CPP30411 Certificate III in Security Operations).

This course specifies the knowledge and skills weapons licence applicants require for the lawful, responsible, and safe use of various categories of firearms and other weapons for occupational purposes, sports or target shooting, and recreational pursuits, including firearms collection and historical demonstrations and military re-enactments. The Weapons Categories Regulation 1997 provides a list of weapons that fall within the various weapons categories.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal academic requirements

Must be over 18 years of age (or have written consent from parent/guardian to attend)
Must not have any physical or other impairment which would prevent you from handling firearms safely – if unsure, seek advice from your GP or contact us to discuss suitability
Must not have any criminal convictions (relating to drug use, violence, or weapons) in the past 5 years
Must not have been subject to a domestic violence order in the past 5 years
Must not have been subject to an involuntary mental health order in the past 5 years.
