A career in Education Support offers you the flexibility to fit work around family commitments and busy schedules. According to Job Outlook as published by the Australian Government, there is a high proportion of positions available on a part-time basis, and full-time positions generally comprise no more than 34 hours of work a week*.

If you’re friendly and reliable, have a positive outlook and are able to show sensitivity to students and their families, you will thrive in an education support role. Build on your strengths and formalise your skill set with a nationally recognised qualification.

The Certificate IV in Education Support will give you the skills required to support the behaviour of children and young people, supervise students outside the classroom, apply a range of principles and processes to facilitate student learning and comply with legislative, policy and industrial requirements in the education environment. You also gain skills and knowledge in providing support to students who face a range of challenges that may limit their participation in outcomes from the curriculum.

Upon graduation, you will be qualified to provide a stimulating, safe and meaningful learning environment as a Teacher Aide, Education Assistant or Special Needs Teacher Aide. You will also be qualified to work as a Language or Literacy Worker, helping children how to read and write. Across all positions, you may be required to perform tasks with a moderate level of autonomy or under the supervision of other staff.

This course also includes 100 hours of practical work placement with an education provider of your choosing. All theory components are then delivered online via our learning management system, My eCampus, giving you the option to study whenever and wherever suits you.

Please note that this course is currently in a transition period (superseded due to Government-mandated updates), with updates due for release in the coming years.
