Take the next step in your career with this intermediate-level course in primary health care, and learn how to make a difference in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. With a qualification in primary health care you will be equipped to positively impact on the lives of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people living in remote areas, through health promotion. The health care sector is experiencing strong growth, with current research highlighting the merits of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.
This course will see you gain the skills to work with patients, clients, and visitors to hospitals and health clinics, and assist in arranging, coordinating and providing health care in community health clinics. Our core units will teach you to provide first aid, perform health assessments, and provide nutritional guidance for specific health care outcomes. With elective units in intervention and support for alcohol and drug impact, and care strategies for chronic health conditions, there is sure to be an area of community health that you are passionate about. TAFE Queensland's experienced teachers will provide you with resources specific to individual learning styles, and the one-on-one support necessary to succeed in your studies.
