The nutrition and dietetics industry offers a variety of opportunities for those looking to help people understand the relationship between food and health, and make appropriate dietary choices to maintain good health and prevent and treat illnesses and diseases.

According to the Job Outlook website published by the Australian government, employment for Dieticians grew rapidly over the past five years at a rate of 68.9%*, and looking forward to November 2020, is expected to continue growing. The Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition and Dietetics Specialisation) will provide the foundation knowledge you need to enter the allied health industry and succeed in a future in nutrition and dietetics.

This health care course is a nationally recognised training qualification which teaches you how to conduct health care program activities, confirm a patient’s physical health status, interpret and apply medical terminology and follow safe work practices for direct client care. The elective nutrition and dietetics specialisation course units have been developed to teach you how to evaluate menus, meet individualised plans and monitor and implement therapeutic diets.

A qualification in Cert IV in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition and Dietetics Specialisation) opens up employment opportunities across the healthcare and well-being sectors. You can apply for positions as an Allied Health Assistant, Nutrition and Dietetics Assistant or Therapy Assistant. As a Nutrition and Dietetics Assistant, you perform a vital role in health and community sectors, including rehabilitation centres, allied health, health promotion and hospital food service departments.

During your studies, you will also take on practical work placement with a qualified allied health professional. This hands-on experience, combined with online theory, ensures you graduate with a solid understanding of the allied health industry, and how to assist effectively and contribute to the health and wellbeing of clients.
