METS trainers will inspire you as you jumpstart your career in the fast-paced retail environment. You’ll learn a range of job skills essential for working in a service environment including communication, personal presentation, time management, as well as identifying and responding to security risks.
Individuals completing this qualification will be able to perform roles, where they can:
- Provide in-depth product and service advice in a retail environment
- Engage customers and build relationship
- Sell products and services in a variety of retail settings
- Service the point-of-sale area
- Organise and maintain work areas and displays
- Carry out specific responsibilities, such as merchandising.
This qualification will provide you a pathway to work in a diverse range of retail settings including specialty retailers, supermarkets, department stores and quick service restaurants.

Smart and Skilled Funding Eligibility (NSW)
METS Training Services delivers government subsidised training, including the NSW government training under the Smart and Skilled program.
To access NSW government-subsidised training with METS Training Services, including fee exemptions or concessions, you must be:
- an Australian citizen or meet the criteria of being an Australian permanent resident, a humanitarian visa holder, or a New Zealand citizen;
- aged 15 years or older;
- no longer be at school;
- living or working in NSW; or registered as a NSW apprentice or new entrant trainee.
Please note: Students on temporary visas (including Student Visa Subclass 500 and most visitor or working holiday visas) are not eligible for government-subsidised training.
