Certificate IV in Disability Support - RPL

Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)

METS trainers will inspire you in building a career where you can make a difference in people’s lives. Learn to work effectively in a range of community settings and client homes, empowering people with disabilities to reach their full potential.

This nationally-recognised course includes 7 core and 3 electives. Further develop your knowledge and skills to work without direct supervision and to supervise and/or coordinate a small team in. Content will include:

  • Facilitating the empowerment of people with disability
  • Provide person-centred services to people with disability with complex needs
  • Developing and Providing Individualised Support
  • Facilitating Community Inclusion and Participation
  • Manage legal and ethical compliance.

Students must have computer literacy and literacy skills and be above the age of 16 to enrol. Students under the age of 18 will require a parent or guardians’ permission to enrol.

Entry requirements

Domestic Students

  • Completed Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent qualifications OR
  • Completed CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability PLUS the CHCSS00125 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support Skill Set.

To demonstrate your eligibility for RPL, the following types of evidence may be required:

  • Portfolio of Evidence: documentation showcasing your skills and experience.
  • Direct Observation: demonstration of your skills or competencies.
  • Reflective work: papers, journals or portfolios connecting past learning to current course or qualification outcomes.
  • Workplace examples: samples of your work from a professional, social or community setting where your skills were utilised.
  • References or Testimonials: supporting documentation from employers or colleagues verifying your skills or competencies.
  • Modified Assessments: completing assessments similar or aligned with the full course requirements.
  • Combination of evidence: any combination of the above evidence types.

IMPORTANT:  all submitted evidence must be authentic and directly related to your own skills and experiences.
