An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides health care in emergency situations. You might work for an ambulance service and respond to 000 calls or you might work for another rescue service provider. Emergency Medical Technicians assess a patient’s needs on scene and attempt to stabilise them before transport to a hospital or medical facility. You may administer life saving treatment such as CPR.
Emergency Medical Technicians should be excellent communicators and have strong personal skills. You’ll need to be able to remain calm in difficult situations and make decisions quickly. Emergency Medical Technicians may have to work a range of shifts including weekends and public holidays.
