This apprenticeship course provides the off the-job training component of a metal fabrication apprenticeship in the light/heavy fabrication/welding stream. You will learn the knowledge, skills and applications required to begin a career as a fabrication tradesperson.
The Certificate III in Engineering allows students to enter the shipping and mining industries as a fabrication tradesperson with CAD drafting skills. This course provides the theory component of a metal fabrication apprenticeship in the light/heavy fabrication/welding stream. Learn the knowledge, skills and applications required to begin a career as a fabrication tradesperson. Theory components in structural fabrication, sheetmetal working or boilermaking are also offered. You will undertake the equivalent of one day training per week at TAFE as part of your job. The fourth year is usually spent entirely on the job.
