Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)Our CHC40321 Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention prepares learners for meaningful roles in child protection, family support, and youth services, where trauma-informed practice, strong communication, and genuine compassion contribute to positive outcomes for children and families.
This nationally recognised qualification reflects the real needs of child and family services across government departments, community organisations, and out-of-home care settings. Learners will develop the skills to assess risk, support families in crisis, apply trauma-informed approaches, and work within legal and ethical frameworks designed to protect Australia's most vulnerable children and young people.
This course provides learners with the knowledge and confidence required to work in child, youth and family intervention roles across a wide range of community services settings.

Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a visa with full work and study rights.
- Have completed their education to a level equivalent to an Australian Senior High School Year 12, or successful completion of a Level 4 literacy and numeracy assessment, or has completed an Australian Qualifications Framework Certificate IV level qualification or higher.
- Have sound computer skills, including:
◦ Ability to navigate software systems
◦ Intermediate use of Microsoft Word (formatting, tables, editing) to complete assessments. - Have access to a laptop or desktop computer with a reliable internet connection to complete online modules and attend virtual Zoom classes.
- Be capable of completing 120 hours of work placement in a suitable workplace.
- Have a valid Working with Children Check (or equivalent) prior to placement.
- Hold a valid Police Check (or be willing to obtain one before placement.
- Complete a Pre-Training Review interview (via phone) to confirm eligibility and readiness to undertake the course.
