This qualification reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential care setting who work under supervision and delegation as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, following an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. These individuals take responsibility for own outputs within the scope of their job role and delegation. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.
Duration
On Campus: 25 week course including 120 hours of work placement which we will organise.
Online: Up to 12 months self-paced learning and 120 hours of work placement.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise potentially hazardous manual task, and then to prepare for and complete those tasks in a safe manner.
Our course is specifically designed for support workers and nursing students working within the ageing and disability sectors giving you the knowledge and skills for the safe mobilisation of clients.
This course covers the below aspects:
- Identify manual tasks involving risk
- Prepare for manual tasks
- Complete manual tasks
- Contribute to safe work practices
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.
The unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
This course covers the below aspects:
- Respond to an emergency situation
- Apply appropriate first aid procedures
- Communicate details of the incident
- Review the incident
