An Electric Vehicle Technician maintains and repairs electric vehicles, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely. You might work in automotive workshops, dealerships, or specialised EV service centres. Electric Vehicle Technicians focus on diagnosing issues, performing routine maintenance, and upgrading vehicle systems. You’ll use specialised tools and apply knowledge from EV training programs, such as LVT Electric Vehicle Training or an Electric Vehicle Short Course, to troubleshoot and repair high-voltage components.
Many technicians undertake nationally recognised training that includes units like AURETH101 Depower and reinitialise battery electric vehicles and AURETH011 Depower and reinitialise hybrid electric vehicles. With the rise of electric transport across Australia, especially in metro areas like Melbourne, EV technicians are increasingly required to complete EV Safety Training Melbourne or participate in an EV Program Melbourne. You’ll need a strong high voltage safety skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with customers and team members.
