Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 Near Coastal)

The Australian MAR20421 – Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 Near Coastal) qualification will enable you to work in the following capacity:

  • Chief engineer on a vessel with an inboard engine with propulsion power up to 500 kilowatts within the exclusive economic zone (EEZ)
  • Chief engineer on a vessel with an outboard engine of unlimited propulsion power within the EEZ
  • Second engineer on a vessel with an inboard engine with propulsion power up to 750 kilowatts within the EEZ
  • As an assistant under the general supervision of the chief engineer within the EEZ
  • In the engine room of a vessel with an inboard engine with propulsion power up to 3000 kilowatts within the EEZ
