Certificate IV in Mental Health
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)The Certificate IV in Mental Health is ideal for people who want to support people affected by mental illness through recovery-oriented, person-centred approaches.
Work involves implementing community-based programs and activities that promote mental health and wellbeing in a variety of settings, including non-government organisations, home outreach, residential services, rehabilitation programs, and clinical environments.
At this level, you’ll work more independently under the broad guidance of other practitioners and professionals, using your skills to empower individuals on their recovery journey.
After successfully completing this nationally accredited qualification, you will be competent in the skills required to work as a:
- Mental Health Outreach Worker
- NDIS Coordinator
- Welfare Support Worker
- Community Rehabilitation Worker

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
There are no academic entry requirements for this qualification. Students are required to provide their Unique Student Identifier (USI) which we can assist with, photo identification and meet the language, literacy and numeracy requirements.
Eligibility for subsidised training
You are eligible for a subsidised training place if you have left school, your primary place of residence is in Western Australia and you are:
- an Australian citizen: or
- holders of a sub-class 300, 309, 444, 445, 449, 461, 785, 786, 790, or 820 visa;
- secondary holders of a temporary visa of subclass 188, 457, 482, 489, 491 or 494 visa;
- holders of a Bridging Visa E (subclasses 050 and 051) where the visa holder has made a valid application for a visa of subclass 785 or 790;
- holders of a bridging visa who are eligible to work, and who have made a valid application for a subclass 866.
