It aims to ensure you learn the critical skills and develop the confidence employers will recognise and value. You will learn to professionally care for and communicate with children, support play and learning and basic developmental needs, and about providing food and basic health services.
This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. These support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children's well-being. Depending on the setting, educators may work under direct supervision or autonomously.

The Certificate IV in Mental Health aims to give students the knowledge, skills and values required to work as a professional in community mental health. Designed to ensure a balance between theory and practical learning, this course invites students to delve into topics such as mental health recovery and the promotion of ongoing wellbeing. The course is delivered via a blended delivery model, which includes live and interactive online tutorials, on-campus practicals and simulations, and industry placement. Swinburne, in response to current industry trends, is including the new Department of Education and Training Unit for Mental Health work in the NDIS (Psychosocial Disability).
Students enrolled in the Certificate IV in Mental Health may also be eligible to complete a dual qualification with Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work. In this course, students will draw on their lived experience of mental illness as either a consumer or carer to further understand and support their peers in the mental health sector.
