They arrange the venue, plan the event timetable, organise competition officials and players, market and promote the event along various distribution channels, secure event funding and sponsorship, manage event staffing and obtain the necessary permits, licences, and paperwork.

As a Sports Event Manager you could be negotiating the hire price of a sports arena, carrying out a player safety risk assessment, organising event insurance, developing sponsorship packages and the ticket pricing structure, advertising for event staff, planning event uniforms and branding materials, negotiating leasing fees for merchandisers and food retailers, or running a project management meeting with key stakeholders.

To succeed in this occupation you’ll need to be highly organised and have outstanding communication skills.
